The competition is endorsed by the Queensland Rugby League.

All QRL club teams from across Queensland who are interested in trying their hand at the Nines format and getting a good pre-season hit out are invited to take part.

Two-time defending Nines champions Yeppoon Seagulls will be looking to make it a treble under the guidance of former Cowboys and Broncos NRL player Scott Minto.

The recently crowned Mackay Rugby League champions Magpies will provide some stiff opposition, along with local RRL champions Norths Chargers.

In the Women’s competition, the Gladstone sides are expected to provide the biggest challenge to defending champions Emu Park.

Central Highlands took out the 2016 title for the Under 20s competition and will be hard to beat again.

Next year’s tournament will see the introduction of an Open Men’s second division for teams that are keen for the run, but do not want to test themselves against the highest level.

Nomination fees for 2017 are as follows:

Under 20s: $500
Women’s: $250
Open Men’s Division 1: $750
Open Men’s Division 2: $250
