It’s the top of the table clash this weekend in the FOGS Under 20s Cup, with the Redcliffe Dolphins hosting the Townsville Blackhawks tomorrow (Saturday) at 4.25pm.

Dolphins coach Scott Murray said he was happy with the way his side has been playing so far this season, but he and his team will be preparing for a tough contest this weekend.

“With Townsville’s performances in the past two weeks and the quality of their squad, it will be a tough game for the boys,” Murray said.

“They have a few players coming in from the Cowboys NYC side which will make it a tough competition.”

The Blackhawks are known for their big forward pack and fiercely competitive nature, but Murray believes his side are up for the challenge.

“We are fortunate with our forward pack. We had a few boys return from last year and know what is required of them,” Murray said.

“We have to hope our forwards can put us in good field position.

“We will need them to be at their very best and I know it’s going to be a good contest for them.”

The Dolphins are three from three and had a close two-point win over the Easts Tigers last weekend.

Going into Round 4, they will be hoping to continue playing a similar style of attack they have deployed in the earlier rounds of the competition.

Murray will be hoping the never give up sprit his side showed against the Tigers will continue into this weekend.

“We knew if we just hang in there through those tough periods when we aren’t at our best and get the other team on the back foot, we are going to get back on top,” Murray said.

“It really showed the character and development of the senior players in our side.”

The FOGS Under 20s Cup round will kick off tomorrow morning with Victoria Rugby League at home to the Central Queensland Capras in what will be a big day for the competition with seven games being played. The day will finish with Easts at home to Northern Pride with the Tigers looking to claim their second win.

The Tweed Heads Seagulls have the bye.
