This weekend will see the staging of the 2017 SEQ Chairman’s Challenge between Brisbane, Ipswich and the Gold Coast.

The three regions will have their representative A Grade and Under 19 teams play off across the tournament.

The competing teams have been selected from the Senior League competitions in Ipswich and the Gold Coast as well as Brisbane Second Division.

For the first time, the age title has been changed from Under 20 to Under 19 to align with the age competition now being played in all three areas.

The matches will be played at Brandon Park, Souths Acacia Ridge from today (Friday, May 5) with games continuing tomorrow and Sunday.

After three successful years at Ipswich, the Division made a change with Brisbane being the 2017 hosts.

This is the fifth year the Division has supported the staging of this event as a weekend format, which has proved popular with players and minimised the impact on the local competitions.

The Leagues will accumulate points from the results in each game, with the Chairman's XXXX Challenge trophy to be awarded to the winning team at the conclusion of the round robin series.

At the conclusion of the weekend of matches, the Division will name its South East Queensland representative A grade team.

This outfit will contest the QRL State Carnival at Southport on June 2-3.
