The Moreton Bay Region will be visited by more than 20,000 spectators and a record 53 teams for the seventh annual Arthur Beetson Foundation Deadly Choices Murri Rugby League Carnival later this month.

And in massive news for the region, the FOX League channel has announced they will broadcast a three-hour Murri Carnival highlights show on NRL grand final morning.

The Queensland Murri Carnival will be held at Dolphin Oval Redcliffe from Wednesday, September 20-23; with a Murri Carnival Legends Game 5pm Thursday, September 21, featuring former greats of NRL set to be a particular highlight.

Acting Mayor, Councillor Mike Charlton said the best of the best from the Murri Carnival will be broadcast to potentially hundreds of thousands of viewers on one of the biggest TV viewing days in the Australian sporting calendar, the NRL grand final.

“On grand final day, Fox League will show highlights from the 2017 Arthur Beetson Foundations/Deadly Choices Murri Carnival held at Dolphins Stadium Redcliffe,” he said.

“This is a massive boon for our region and will broadcast Moreton Bay to the rest of Australia,” Cr Charlton.

“Moreton Bay Regional Council is a proud sponsor of the Murri Carnival and we can’t wait to see some of this country’s best Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander rugby league players take to the field at our region’s premier venue for rugby league, Dolphins Stadium.”

Attorney-General and Member for Redcliffe Yvette D’Ath said it was an honour to once again hold the event at Dolphin Stadium in Redcliffe.
