Rockhampton Brothers celebrated their 100th year with a gala dinner at the Rockhampton Show Grounds on Friday, October 20.

The event was a sell out with more than 250 attending the evening the evening, despite the venue change from Victoria Park (the spiritual home of Rockhampton Brothers) due to wet weather.

Some of the guests included former players and coaches from all eras.

This year, the Rockhampton Brothers secured their 30th A Grade premiership with the coaching staff and players honoured on the night.

The night also included interviews with former players Rod Reddy, Paul White (CEO Brisbane Broncos), Anthony” Hook” Griffin (Penrith Panthers coach) and a video message from Anthony Seibold, who was recently appointed as the new head coach of the Souths Sydney Rabbitohs. The former Mackay Cutters coach was away on holidays with his family prior and was unable to attend the evening.

Another highlight of the night was the announcement of the Team of the Century (See the nominees and awardees here.)

This was the hardest task for the organisers and the spread of players from each era was outstanding and saw the inclusion of players such as Steve Crear, Rod Reddy, Darren Fritz, Cyril Connell Jnr and PJ Marsh.

The weekend concluded with a race day at Rockhampton’s Callaghan Park on the Saturday.

There were many former players reunited, a few stories told (and no doubt exaggerated) and it was a great time of celebration for the club.
