The Toowoomba Junior Rugby League is set to establish a five-week Under 12 girls rugby league competition this season.
Encompassing girls born between 2006-2008, the initiative hopes to grow the game by encouraging young girls to play in a stand-alone female competition.
TJRL Girls Coordinator Jackie Stephson said momentum was building, with numerous clubs planning to enter a team.
“We are starting a five-week Under 12 girls rugby league competition this year to commence a long term aim for junior girls rugby league to be played in the local Toowoomba junior competition,” Stephson said.
“I’m looking forward to seeing more girls out in the middle this season and it can only get bigger and better.
“We are hoping the competition will grow the game and allows the whole family to be involved.”
