Major SEQ competitions kick off this weekend

Local league is back in the South East corner with most of the senior major competitions kicking off this weekend.

The In Safe Hands Cup BRL A Grade opens tomorrow (Saturday, March 17) with defending champions Valleys hosting Easts Tigers; while on Sunday afternoon, the Seagulls host the Panthers and the Magpies will be at home to the Dolphins.

This weekend will also see the beginning of BRL Reserve Grade and Under 21 competition; along with all the XXXX Rugby League Brisbane senior competitions. This will take the place of the former Brisbane Second Division Rugby League competition.

Furthermore, the South East Queensland Women’s competitions will also get underway this week. In Division 1, defending champions Burleigh will host Easts at Pizzey Park in the season opener.

Brothers Ipswich and the Wests Panthers will also face off tomorrow, while Toowoomba and Souths Magpies will do battle on Sunday.

As the women’s game continues to grow exponentially, the SEQ women’s competition will continue to feature Division 2 and Division 3 matches. 

The 2018 City of Ipswich Mayor’s A Grade competition is already underway, with Round 3 fixtures taking place this weekend.

Rugby League Gold Coast will be late to the party in 2018 as they await the conclusion of the Commonwealth Games before kicking off their season.

Round 1 is currently scheduled for Sunday, April 22, where all eight A Grade teams will be action at Bilambil Sports.
