Youth give back to junior league

Redlynch Rzorbacks Junior Rugby League Club in Cairns are on the front foot looking to the future with former and current junior players and family members giving back to the junior club they love so much.

Nine players from the junior club have offered their services in 2018 as active volunteers involved directly within coaching, assistant coaching, LeagueSafe or refereeing.

The Redlynch club has also proactively funded two NRL Development Traineeships with Jarryd Rowe, 17, set to complete the traineeship and will take the role as assistant coach of the U/14s team.

Jarryd is also a current Under 17 player and has been with the club since under 6s. The other NRL trainee is 16-year-old Madison Stammers, who is the U6 assistant coach and LeagueSafe runner.

Big plans are on the horizon with extra fields and clubhouse facilities by the way of Redlynch Sport and Recreation Parklands Masterplan. Redlynch JRL executives are excited with the growth of the club and have plans for players to transition into the senior ranks and are in discussions with CDRL and QRL.

Robbie Moore, QRL Northern Division Assistant Manager, is full of admiration for the junior rugby league club.

“Our game thrives on the great work that volunteers put in across our game week in, week out and what makes this club different to others is the young role models within the club being all current players and giving back directly through volunteering in the club and community,” Moore said.

“It’s a credit to the club and something that other clubs need to follow suit within obtaining and training our young men and women in official coaching and referring roles in the game they love so much.
