Finalists still uncertain at RDJRL halfway point

At the halfway point of the RDJRL competition, all teams are now looking at consolidating their positions in the top four of their respective age groups and last weekend’s round of games proved that no one has given up on clinching a finals berth.

In the Under 13s, Cap Coast continued their winning ways whilst Norths were too good for Gracemere.

In the battle of the Brethren, it was Brothers Blue who just held on to defeat their White counterparts.

The Under 14 games played saw Cap Coast defeat the Tigers, Norths were too strong for Woorabinda and in an entertaining game at Victoria Park, Brothers White and Yeppoon put on a great display of rugby league, with the Brethren just holding on to win.

The Rockhampton Tigers Under 15s recorded a win in Round 6, defeating Cap Coast Brothers and the ever-improving Norths Knights fell just short to Gracemere.

The Under 16 Yeppoon Seagulls have again walked away from the weekend with a win defeating the Cap Coast Tigers, whilst Norths proved too strong for the ever-improving Woorabinda.

To finish the weekend, Cap Coast Brothers outlasted Brothers Blue by eight points, whilst in another great game between the two Norths sides, they could not be separated in a low-scoring 4-4 affair.

ROUND 7 PREVIEW

Round 7 will be the final round before the competition breaks for the Easter school holidays and everyone will be wanting to secure the final two points before the break.

Norths will host the Tigers in the Under 13, Under 14 and Under 15s with both clubs looking for wins, particularly in the Under 13 game.

This match-up should provide a great start to the night as these sides have been very competitive all season.

In the Under 16 game at the Gymmy Grounds, Norths take on rivals Brothers. These two sides have been very close for the past three years and this game will be no different.

Norths will also look to take the points against Cap Coast in the Under 18s before the break.

At Barmaryee on Friday night, the Seagulls will host Gracemere in the Under 13 and Under 15s, Woorabinda in Under 14 and Under 16s and Norths White in the Under 18s.

The Under 18 competition has been a close affair this year and the last game of the night will prove a tough encounter.

With the Under 18 CQ Capras side having a couple of injuries, players will be looking to impress for a chance of a call up.

Victoria Park hosts the final games of the round, with Brothers White taking on Fitzroy and Brothers Blue up against Emu Park in the Under 13 matches of the evening.

It will be a return match in the Under 14s between the two Brothers sides, and to finish the night, Brothers take on Emu Park in the Under 15 and 18 age groups.

Junior rugby league will return to Rockhampton after the school holidays, with Round 8 kicking off on Friday, April 20.

During the holiday break, the RDJRL will host the Under 14 headspace Charity Shield on Friday, April 6 and Saturday, April 7, prior to the Round 5 NRL clash between the Gold Coast Titans and Manly Sea Eagles in Gladstone on Sunday, April 8.
