Tagataese's over-excited Broncos debut
SAM Tagataese has made his debut for the Broncos, but you might be forgiven for thinking you saw two versions of him on the field.
Tagataese ran onto the field in his first match as a Bronco in the second half but forgot one key piece of equipment - his headgear.
He did a hit up without it before Broncos' physiotherapist Luke Anning realised and ran it out to him.
Tagataese laughed about the incident after the game.
"Yeah, Luke came on and said do you need this?" Tagatese recalled.
"And I said, yeah I need it.
"I got too excited and forgot about it, and luckily Luke has my back."
Tagataese has played with the Storm, Titans and won a grand final with the Sharks.
But he is now Bronco player number 235 after being brought in as a late replacement for the injured Matt Gillett.
And the upset win over the Warriors felt special for the New Zealand-born Tagataese.
"The key thing was the boys played well for 80 minutes and played to their potential," he said.
"It is great to get the win, because I think the last one over here was three years ago.
"To knock that off and get the win, I am very happy to be a part of it.
"You don't pray for those things (to be an injury replacement), but you just take the opportunity when it comes.
"I have been in the game long enough to know when an opportunity comes you have to do your best, whatever minutes you get."
