Griffith Gold Coast Panthers dispatched the QUT Trouts 26-8 to continue their dominance at the top of the Universities Rugby League Queensland ladder.

Quick fullback Maverick Sooalo scored two tries on Wednesday night as the Panthers ran away with it in the second half to remain undefeated after three rounds of the competition.

It has been a wonderful start for the boys from down the M1, who finished on the bottom of the ladder last year.

Danyon Pidgeon did well to score two tries for the Trouts.

Meanwhile the Dragons got back on track with a strong win against the Logan Redbacks in a Griffith University derby down at Meadowbrook.

It was tight until just after halftime, with centre Allen Rau finishing the match with a hat-trick of tries for the Dragons.

And at Banyo, strong centre Declan Morrissy turned the game between Australian Catholic University and the University of Qld.

The 2017 Queensland Universities representative came off the bench to score two second-half tries as ACU shocked the Hounds with a 22-16 victory.

ACU has now managed two upsets in two games under new coach Zac Wallwork, following their come-from-behind win over the Dragons last week.

Next Wednesday ACU will host the Trouts at Banyo, the Panthers travel to Nathan to meet the Dragons, and the Redbacks and Hounds play at Logan.
