They meet again! Southport Tigers will take on Currumbin Eagles in what will be a rematch of Round 1.
The Tigers and Eagles match will be the highlighted match of Round 8 of the Rugby League Gold Coast QTOP A Grade Competition.
At this time of year most teams have a couple of players out through injury but the Southport Tigers will have 17 players putting in 110 per cent this weekend.
"Currumbin are the benchmark and we are going to put in a good solid effort and test ourselves against the benchmark," Southport Tigers coach Mark Ross said.
Process over outcome
Southport had worked hard on their discipline since the two teams met in Round 1 when the Eagles triumphed 30-26. The Tigers had taken the time to get systems and processes in place and were continuing to work towards their goal of finishing in the top five.
In what Ross believed would be a "battle of the forward packs", the Tigers whole psyche was about the process rather than the outcome.
Tough encounter tipped
Currumbin Eagles coach Ryan Gundry said: "We are under no illusion that this is going to be an easy game, Southport played well in Round 1 and we are expecting a tough battle."
With all players on deck and ready to improve on their Round 1 performance the club had some quality players who were working hard for each other.
Other matches
At other grounds, the Burleigh Bears will take on Tweed Heads Seagulls, Bilambil Jets will host the Ormeau Shearers and Tugun will play Runaway Bay.
