Schools 15 Years contest reaches final stages

This Friday (tomorrow, July 6) sees the Queensland Maroon side take on NSW Combined Catholic Colleges in the National Final of the 15 Years Championships in Mackay. 

The National Championships have been running since Sunday, with the Queensland team recording strong victories over NSW Combined High Schools, and NSW CCC before winning their Semi Final clash against Queensland Whites 36-6.

The Queensland Maroon side are captained by Xavier Va’a from St Mary’s College Toowoomba who said the team had bonded well during the training camp in the lead up to the Championships, while enjoying the opportunity to represent their state in Mackay. 

The team is coached by Joe O’Callaghan from Marsden State High School who is looking forward to the challenge of a National Final tomorrow. 

“The boys have responded really well to the challenges placed in front of them, and we’re looking forward to seeing them perform in front of a good crowd on Friday,” he said. 

The game kicks off at 12.20, with the announcement of the Australian 15 Years Merit side from 2pm.
