PNG back in the hunt after win over Pride

The boot of Ase Boas saw the PNG Hunters kick away from the Pride to record an important 18-8 win in Round 18.

The Hunters were keen to bounce back after only their second home loss this season and started strongly, with veteran Adex Wera getting his team on the board first in the 28th minute.

However, the Pride proved hard to shake and both side crossed for two tries apiece in the game – however, three penalty goals and two successful conversions from the skipper kept the Hunter in front all game.

While the Pride are currently inside the top six with 10 wins so far this season; the Hunters are down in 10th spot with eight wins just behind the Souths Logan Magpies how hold the coveted sixth position having claimed nine wins for 20 competition points.

Next week, the Hunters will take their game against the Norths Devils to Lae as part of their first ever Country Week game; while the Pride will take on the Ipswich Jets at Cooktown.
