New coach for Sunshine Coast Falcons

The Sunshine Coast Vantage Homes Falcons have announced head coach Craig Ingebrigtsen will be leaving the club at the end of the current season.

Eric Smith who coached the Melbourne Storm National Youth team based on the Sunshine Coast in 2016 & 2017, will take the reigns from November this year.

Eric is currently part of Craig Bellamy's coaching staff at the Storm but will relocate to the Sunshine Coast at the end of the current season.

The Falcons said Ingebrigtsen had been instrumental in shaping the Falcons into a force in the Intrust Super Cup over the past three years.

"His results speak for themselves. He took the Falcons from 12th to 3rd in his first season in charge (2016) and then was narrowly beaten in the Intrust Super Cup Grand Final last year" Falcons CEO Chris Flannery said.

"Unfortunately this year a few results haven't gone our way but Craig has done very well with a young side and he has definitely left the club in a much better position than when he got here.

"We are very thankful for his professionalism and dedication to the Falcons over the past three years and wish him all the very best in his future endeavours."
