Sunny Coast abuzz for junior grand final day

Spring arrives this Saturday - and that means junior rugby league grand finals are on in the Sunshine Coast.

With all the footy action on at Noosa Pirates in Cooroy, it's time to pull out those team colours, warm up the vocal cords and get ready to back your team in the big decider.

This year's grand finals will be hotly contested with 13 of 15 clubs being represented on the day, a statistic that is exciting for Sunshine Coast Junior Rugby League Operations Manager Nathan Mclean.

"This is a terrific result for the game on the coast," Mclean said.

"I can't remember the last time we had so many clubs participate on grand final day."

The program will kick-off at 9am with the Under 12 Pool A and the Under 13 Division 1 finals.

A total of 15 deciders will be played across the day with the feature, the Under 16 Division 1 Boys wrapping up proceedings with a 5pm start.

This match will see the Kawana Dolphins take on the Caboolture Snakes.

The Dolphins finished this year's competition at the top of the table, but will be wary of an in-form Caboolture side in this year's deciding match.

In the Under 16 Girls game at 2.20pm, the undefeated Caboolture Snakes come up against the very talented South Burnett.

There hasn't been much between these two sides this year.

Can the Burnett girls get this one over the fancied Snakes? Only time will tell!

SCJRL Chairman Peter Oleary is encouraging everyone to get along and support their team.

"2018 has been a great year for Rugby League on the Sunshine Coast," said Oleary.

"The competitions have been close, and participation is at an all-time high.

"We encourage everyone to get down to support their team and enjoy a fantastic day of junior footy."
