Faifai-Loa declared best and fairest for Blackhawks

Kalifa Faifai-Loa took out the 2018 Townsville Blackhawks Player of the Year Award recently at Brothers Leagues Club in front of 230 of his fellow players as well as partners, coaching staff, staff and sponsors.

In only his first year with the Blackhawks, the impressive back won the award to go with his 16 tries and running a total of 2922m with the ball for the year.

Coach of the Blackhawks Kristian Woolf praised Faifai-Loa for his consistency and ability to handle pressure.

“Kalifa has been wonderful for us, on and off the field,” Woolf said.

“He’s only missed one game this year and been very consistent.

“From the start, he made the pressure of pre-season more enjoyable and he’s great to have around.

“Every game that he has been involved in, he has had a positive impact on the result.”

Faifai-Loa also represented the XXXX Queensland Residents side earlier in the season, and was also named the Winger of the Year at the QRL’s Petero Civoniceva Medal awards presentation.

Half Jaelen Feeney was another big winner at the Townsville presentation night, taking home two awards.

Hastings Deering Colts grand final captain Samuel Martin-Savage took our the Under 20s Player of the Year, while Isaac Locke was the Under 18 (Mal Meninga Cup) Player of the Year.
