St George Illawarra winger Nene Macdonald has signed a three-year deal with North Queensland.

A Cairns junior, Macdonald has scored 31 tries in 91 NRL games at the Roosters, Gold Coast Titans and Dragons, and has played nine Tests for Papua New Guinea.

"He's a North Queensland kid and we like North Queenslanders representing this region," Cowboys coach Paul Green said.

"Nene is going to offer plenty of depth to our backline and had a fantastic year for the Dragons.

"I know him on a personal level after coaching him in the under 20s at the Roosters and am confident he will be a good cultural fit for our club as well."

Meanwhile the Dragons have signed three outside backs for their 2019 squad, with Brisbane's Jonus Pearson joining the club on a two-year deal, Fiji international Mikaele Ravalawa joining from Canberra for three years and Jason Saab being promoted from the club's SG Ball side on a four-year contract.
