Kurt Capewell has been that player for any occasion, capable of playing whatever role was necessary, without so far being able to cement a permanent position in the Sharks team.
About to begin his fourth season in the NRL since arriving at the Sharks in 2016 from the Ipswich Jets and the Queensland Cup competition, Capewell is approaching 40 top grade games and his time has come to lock down a spot in his team's best 17.
With the retirement of Luke Lewis and the injury that will keep Wade Graham sidelined for almost half the season, Capewell has the perfect opportunity to make a back row spot his own.
He'll have some competition with the young guns nipping at his heels, but with size, skill and athleticism, coupled with a good attitude and work ethic, don't be surprised if Capewell is the regular number 11 in Shane Flanagan's pack in 2019.
