Magpies confirm new leaders

Souths Logan commence a new leadership era on Sunday when the Magpies launch their 2019 Intrust Super Cup campaign at Davies Park.

Experienced forward Brendon Gibb and exciting five-eighth Guy Hamilton have been confirmed as the new co-captains, with the first on-field assignment for the new leaders coming in the form of the unpredictable Central Queensland Capras this weekend.

Magpies coach Jon Buchanan believes the pair will complement each other well throughout the year.

“Guy has really matured this pre-season and he will bring a lot to our footy side,” Buchanan said.

“Brendon has a lot of experience in the Intrust Super Cup and he is always prepared to get out there and do his job for the team.

“It’s a really good mix and in many ways is a nod to the future for our club.”

Club legend Phil Dennis, the most capped player in Intrust Super Cup history, has been appointed as club captain.

The crafty utility will take the field for his 276th Intrust Super Cup game this weekend.
