The Queensland Maroons team for Game I of the Holden State of Origin series will be revealed right here on qrl.com.au on Monday at 9am.

The official team announcement marks the start of an exciting week for the Maroons, who will assemble in Brisbane later that morning.

Coach Kevin Walters and his squad will get straight to work, with media commitments, medicals, team meetings, photo shoots and gear fittings just a snapshot of day one camp activity.

All eyes will be on the Maroons Series Launch dinner in the evening, when Walters will announce the 15th Queensland Origin captain.

On Tuesday morning, the squad will rise bright and early to board a flight to Charleville for the the annual regional fan day.

Always a huge hit with regional and rural fans, two charter flights will transport players, coaching staff, media, partners and other guests to the western Queensland town where current and former Maroons will engage with thousands of local fans.

Walters is planning to put the players through a light run at the Charleville Showgrounds, before the team really knuckles down to the task at hand with field sessions in Brisbane on Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Tuesday.

Tuesday’s session is the traditional Captain’s Run on the eve of the June 5 blockbuster at Suncorp Stadium.
