Mackay District Rugby League celebrates 100 years

Mackay and District Rugby League hope to see their homegrown stars back to the region to share in the 100-year celebrations being held on Saturday, September 28 which will include their junior and senior presentations.

During the past 100 years, there have been many great footy players who have hailed from Mackay.

These include Martin Bella, Dale Shearer, Daly Cherry-Evans, Ben Barba, Josh Hoffman, Tom Dearden, Dane Gagai and Kalyn Ponga - just some of the more current players.

Meanwhile, Noel Croft, Maxi Churchill and John Kynesten all played for Queensland in the early years.

There have also been some amazing coaches or staff who have been through the ranks.

Ros Primrose was a Queensland selector and Jack O’Brien who were both from Mackay.

Doors open at 6pm with the gala night to kick off at 6.30pm.

The night will feature an MC, entertainment by Fletch and Hindy from the Matty Johns Show and live music by band 'Rollercam'.

Tables of 10 are available and the ticket cost is $150 per person which includes two course dinner and dessert inclusive of beer and wine.

Guests will be treated to a premiere viewing of '100 years of Mackay Rugby League' video.

A charity auction will also be held which includes a signed and framed Queensland State of Origin jersey plus a State of Origin experience, as well as signed Cowboys, Broncos and Storm jerseys with proceeds raised going to Endeavour Foundation and Head Space Mackay.

Gold and platinum sponsorship packages are also available for businesses and organisations to get on board which include great incentives.

Tickets go on sale Monday, July 22 and can be booked online at Mackaytickets.com.au
