Mackay Cutters and coach Sheppard to part ways

The Mackay Cutters can confirm that 2019 will be Steve Sheppard’s final year as the club’s head coach.

The club reached a mutual agreement with Sheppard this morning to separate at the end of the 2019 season and both Sheppard and the Cutters are looking forward to a fresh start.

Cutters chief executive officer Maurie Fatnowna thanked Steve for his time at the Cutters and wished him and his family all the best in the future.

“We have enjoyed having Steve at our club over the past three seasons and he leaves with our utmost respect and gratitude, however we both feel the need for a fresh start and new challenges," Fatnowna said.

“I have no doubt that Steve will bring value to any club he joins in the future or will be successful in a career path he chooses to follow.

“It’s now time for our club to focus on the 2020 season and planning has already begun for this. Our pre season training will commence in November and we are expecting big things from our teams in all grades.

“The 2020 season is something we can all look forward to.”
