Storm's Grant to be released from hospital after fall

Storm youngster Harry Grant will be discharged from hospital on Monday with a few "scrapes and stitches" after falling over while intoxicated.

Grant was walking home drunk and tripped and fell in Richmond after a big night out on Sunday, with neighbours calling an ambulance fearing he had been assaulted due to his "facial cuts".

But having made it to his street before falling over, Grant is believed to have then fallen asleep until he was woken by concerned onlookers.

The NRL Integrity Unit was notified of the incident by Storm management and is expected to clear Grant of any wrongdoing.

Grant, 21, is rated as a rising prospect at the club and has played two first grade games to date, having been named as hooker in the InTrust Super Cup's team of the year.

He did not play in Melbourne's season-ending loss to the Roosters on Saturday night, but was out marking the end of the club's season with teammates on Sunday.

“Melbourne Storm is aware that one of our NRL contracted players has been treated in hospital this morning for facial cuts and will undergo further medical tests today,” a Storm statement read.

“We can confirm there is no ongoing investigation by Victoria Police into the matter.

“The player, who was not part of our preliminary final squad on Saturday night, is expected to be able to return home today.

“He will continue to be supported by Storm medical and player well-being staff.”
