Mackay Cutters announce new head coach

The Mackay Cutters have announced that they have secured the services of NRL-experienced coach Michael Crawley as head coach.

Signing a two-year contract this week, Crawley will start with the club next month.

Crawley has extensive coaching experience having been an NRL assistant coach at the Canberra Raiders, North Queensland Cowboys, Newcastle Knights and most recently as coaching consultant at the St George Illawarra Dragons.

He has worked with highly respected NRL coaches including Ricky Stuart, Wayne Bennett and Paul McGregor to name a few.

Crawley said he was excited about the challenge and he was well aware of the club and the players and was looking forward towards success.

There will be no change in current staff and Crawley is looking forward to working with them all.

Mackay Cutters CEO Maurie Fatnowna said he was looking forward to the season ahead.

“I believe he’ll be a great fit for our players as well as our coaching staff. I’m excited boys, and I’m sure he will bring the best out of all of us.”
