Storm re-sign Bromwich, Kamikamica in three-pronged signings spree

Melbourne have rewarded rising international forwards Kenny Bromwich and Tui Kamikamica with new two-year deals as part of a three-pronged re-signing announcement.

The younger Bromwich brother and Fijian prop Kamikamica have both re-signed with the Storm until the end of 2022 with options for another season in 2023, while fringe front-rower Albert Vete has also re-committed for another two years.

Bromwich, who has played 10 Tests for New Zealand and 150 games for Melbourne, has an option in his favour for the final year of his deal.

The 2023 component of Kamikamica's contract is an option in the club's favour.

The new deals are reward for career-best campaigns from the two forwards, with Bromwich nominated for Dally M back-rower of the year after playing every game and announcing himself as a genuine attacking threat on the Storm's left-edge.

Kamikamica, meanwhile, was declared the Storm's most improved player of 2019, rounding out his first full NRL season with impressive displays for Fiji in the front row.

The club also confirmed that Queensland Origin forward Christian Welch has taken up his 2020 option.

Welch has begun running for the first time since tearing his ACL in August, an injury which scuppered a potential move to Parrramatta for next season.

Along with the boosts to Melbourne's forward stocks, NRL.com understands that boom fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen is also close to signing a new long-term deal.

The Storm have been juggling their salary cap for some time with 411-gamer Cameron Smith poised to play on in 2020.

Centre Curtis Scott remains in talks with Canberra about a shift to the nation's capital.

The Storm are willing to release him from the final two years of his contract, along with out-of-favour half Brodie Croft.
