Auswide Bank Mal Meninga Cup draw

Reigning premiers Tweed Seagulls will begin their 2020 Auswide Bank Mal Meninga Cup campaign against the Northern Pride in front of their home fans.

It is one of seven big games to be played across the weekend of March 14-15, which will also mark the start of the Intrust Super Cup and Hastings Deering Colts competitions.

Fans with a thirst for quality rugby league will have the opportunity to watch their favourite club play in all three grades at the one venue, with the draws to align across the duration of the seven round Auswide Bank Mal Meninga Cup.

Named after league Immortal Mal Meninga, the statewide Under 18 competition will feature 14 teams, all striving for entry into the qualifying finals (1 v 4, 2 v 3) on the weekend of May 2-3.

The two winners progress to the grand final the following week, with the state champion to play the NSWRL SG Ball premier.

Led by rising representative stars Reece Walsh, Toby Sexton, Xavier Coates and Brendan Piakura, Tweed achieved the championship double in 2019.

The talented Queensland quartet played pivotal roles in Tweed’s 28-24 Auswide Bank Mal Meninga Cup grand final win over Wynnum Manly Seagulls.

Tweed carried their excellent finals form in the Queensland competition into the national decider against the Illawarra Steelers, downing their NSW opponents 48-14 at Dolphin Stadium.
