Emerging outside back Herbie Farnworth is back in Brisbane after three months with his family in England – and has swapped training in snow for the Queensland summer heat.

The 21-year-old was one of the good news stories of the 2020 season for the Broncos, and he enjoyed being reunited with his family in Lancashire over Christmas.

Farnworth continued to train in the UK at his local Burnley College with mentor and uncle Brian Foley, and despite having to spend 14 days in quarantine after returning to Brisbane, is in good physical condition.

“It was great to see my family and I was in close contact with the coach staff back here and I trained with my Uncle Brian – we were in the snow and these boys were in the heat,” said Farnworth.

“Burnley College had a good little pitch and gym that I could use, so I was able to get out. We did a lot of running and a lot of weights and a lot of work on skills.

“It was really cold over there so it burned your throat a little bit but it’s tougher training out here in the heat. Now that I’m back and through the isolation period, it’s great to be back training with the team.

“I did some testing today and the two weeks in the hotel took a bit out of me, so it will be good to get back into full fitness. We’ve got a bit of time until the trial games so I’ll be aiming to play in them.

“I want to do as best as I can, to train hard and play hard then results come from that and we can get a bit of a run going.”
