Boost for fans with 100 per cent capacity given green light

Additional grand final tickets have now been released to the general public after the Queensland Rugby League was today given approval to host a capacity crowd at Moreton Daily Stadium.

The opportunity for players to showcase their skills in front of a “full house” at the Redcliffe venue is welcomed news for Intrust Super Cup heavyweights Norths Devils and Wynnum Manly Seagulls.

Both clubs were earlier this week preparing for the match to be played in front of a 75 per cent stadium capacity in line with the health safety measures put in place across Queensland.

However, the Queensland Government has today eased restrictions, paving the way for more spectators to make their way to Redcliffe to witness the highly-anticipated 2021 grand final, as well as the Hastings Deering Colts decider.

The Intrust Super Cup clash will feature 13 players with National Rugby League experience, including Selwyn Cobbo, one of the game’s most exciting young talents.

It's time to claim the Cup

The impressive Seagulls fullback, who played seven NRL matches this year, is part of a backline that includes fellow Broncos squad members David Mead, Jesse Arthars and Richard Kennar.

Norths have no shortage of firepower in their line-up as well. Like the Seagulls, they boast a host of proven Intrust Super Cup performers, as well as five players with NRL experience. Two of them – halfback Tyrone Roberts and hooker Danny Levi – have more played more than 100 NRL games.

QRL chief executive officer Rohan Sawyer is encouraging fans to snap up the remaining tickets to the grand final.

“We’re naturally extremely happy to begin planning for a full house following today’s update by the Queensland Government, and we thank Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and her team for their unwavering support to the people of Queensland,” Sawyer said.

“We’re excited about the prospect of seeing our teams play in front of a capacity crowd … it’s going to a wonderful event between two passionate clubs immersed in rugby league tradition.

“While we welcome today’s news, we’re also conscious of ensuring all spectators are aware of the COVIDSafe requirements for the event."
