QRL representative camps cancelled

Queensland Rugby League can confirm the cancellation of its Queensland Maroons and Emerging Under 19 camps due to current COVID-19 constraints.

The camps were scheduled to take place in Brisbane on February 5-6.

The QRL has advised all NRL clubs of this outcome, along with its intention for head coach Billy Slater to instead coordinate group catch-ups with players in their home city in line with Apollo protocols.

“We were preparing to bring up to 40 players together in Brisbane but we feel it is in the best interests of players and clubs to cancel those plans given the current situation,” Slater said.

“We’ve since explored alternative options and getting smaller groups together with some of our coaching personnel will still deliver positive outcomes for us as we build towards the start of the series.”
