QRL confirms Auswide Bank Regional Roadshow

The Queensland Rugby League is teaming up with Auswide Bank to amplify the 2022 State of Origin series and support regional communities affected by the devastating floods.

Queensland Maroons legends Sam Thaiday and Meg Ward will engage with fans, business leaders and members of local rugby league communities across three action-packed days of the Auswide Bank Regional Roadshow.

A host of community events are planned for Bundaberg, Maryborough and Gympie – three proud rugby league towns with a long history of producing some of Queensland’s best footballing talent.

The regional roadshow runs from May 3 until May 5 and will feature junior clinics and school visits with a focus on health and wellbeing.

And in an effort to provide a much-needed financial injection into the region following the recent natural disaster, community fundraiser dinners will be held at each roadshow location.

QRL chief executive officer Rohan Sawyer thanked Auswide Bank for their support of the initiative.

“Our regional and outback communities form part of the fabric of rugby league here in Queensland,” Sawyer said.

“We’re extremely fortunate to have a major partner like Auswide Bank who also have a strong and meaningful connection to communities in regional Queensland.

“Events like the 2022 roadshow reinforce this commitment, but most importantly it will deliver significant outcomes for Queensland communities and the many volunteers who lead local leagues and clubs."

Gympie Devils: 'It was pretty much sink or swim and we're swimming'

Auswide Bank chief customer officer Damian Hearne said they were proud to be back with a 2022 Regional Roadshow, with this year being more important than ever following the recent floods.

“We’re thrilled to offer these exciting initiatives and local events as part of our partnership with the Queensland Rugby League,” Hearne said.

“There is such a strong alignment of values and commitment to the community between our two organisations so it’s important we give back and raise funds to help those who have had it tough this year.

“Regional Queensland represents a very passionate and loyal fan base of which many of our customers belong. We’re incredibly proud to give Queenslanders the opportunity to meet two rugby league legends and, through our regional roadshow, reignite the team pride and Aussie spirit that all football fans have in the lead up to State of Origin."

This year’s Auswide Bank Regional Roadshow will also be supported by QRL partners SEN and Ariat.
