Bears dominate, Devils hang on and Capras show class

The Burleigh Bears put in an almost flawless first half performance to down Souths Logan Magpies in their Round 7 match.

The Bears ran in five first-half tries before the Magpies were able to get on the board, with Justin Fai crashing over for the home side in the 37th minute to give a glimmer of hope of a comeback.

However, Burleigh had too many strong performers across the park, including skipper Sami Sauiluma who scored a double and was brutal in defence and speedy winger Alofiana Khan-Pereira who also crossed for two tries.

Orchestrating much of the attack was halfback Guy Hamilton who took out the Hastings Deering player of the match honours in the win.

Congratulations to Burleigh Bears halfback Guy Hamilton, the Round 7 Hastings Deering player of the match 👏

Later that evening, the Central Queensland Capras returned to their winning ways after defeating Northern Pride in their Round 7 match in Browne Park.

Curtis Dansey-Smaller and Jedidiah Simbiken both scored doubles in the win which saw the home side in control from start to finish, leading 24-6 at the halftime break.

The victory sees the Capras move into third place on the competition ladder, equal on five wins alongside Sunshine Coast Falcons, Burleigh Bears and Norths Devils.

All teams return to action next weekend for Round 8.
