Queensland Universities selection team named

A Queensland Universities selection team has been chosen to face the Queensland Firefighters team in a friendly clash at Davies Park later this month.

The 20-player squad from the mid-week Universities Rugby League Queensland competition will put pride on the line against the firefighters as a curtain raiser to the Round 18 Hostplus Cup match between the Souths Logan Magpies and Redcliffe Dolphins.

The Queensland Firefighters team will use the game as a warm-up match for their annual meeting with the NSW team.

Premiership winning coach with Griffith University, Chris Chaisty, will guide the Queensland Universities selection team for the match.

The team will train three times in preparation for the match – on Monday, August 8, Wednesday, August 10 and Saturday, August 13.

The first two training runs will be held at Griffith University’s Nathan fields, while the captain’s run will take place at Redcliffe.

Players have been chosen from the teams that represent the University of Sunshine Coast, Griffith University, Queensland University of Technology and the University of Queensland.

The match between Queensland Universities and Queensland Firefighters will be played at Davies Park, West End from 11.45am on August 14.
