Statement: Rugby League Ipswich incident

Rugby League Ipswich has confirmed with the Queensland Rugby League that spectators were involved in an incident after Saturday’s A grade match between Norths Tigers and Redbank Plains Bears at Cribb Park, North Ipswich.

Reports received have confirmed the Queensland Police Service and Queensland Ambulance Service officers were called to the ground on the evening of August 6.

Both RLI and the QRL acknowledge the serious nature of this incident and will ensure a thorough investigation and response in accordance with the game’s rules and code of conduct, while respecting the matter is also under investigation by the QPS.  

Due to these factors, RLI have indefinitely suspended both A grade teams involved in the incident until investigations can be completed. Both RLI and QRL are unable to provide any further comment at this time.
