What you need to know: Toowoomba Rugby League senior grand finals

After a very close and competitive season, it’s down to two sides in the Toowoomba Rugby League's A grade men's competition.

And it’s fitting that the top two teams from the regular season will be the ones to meet in the 2022 grand final.

There have been some wonderful matches in this year's finals series and the decider will no doubt be a beauty.

Gatton crossed for 42 points last week in their preliminary victory over Highfields, so it's evident they can score points. But they have also let in 38 points in each of their games in the finals which is a concern.

It’s their defence that will win them this game and the Hawks will leave no stone unturned at training as they address their defence in the lead up to kick off.

Haydan Lipp, Sione Foueti and their wingers, Jayden Williams and Ben Seul, are their game breakers. All of these players are in form at the right time of year.

Wattles, meanwhile, have tremendous individual players. Matt Duggan is in the form of his career. Travis Burns is certainly up there with his NRL career form and Austin Jennings is not only a try scorer but a very good defender.

However, despite this individual brilliance, it is as a team that they impress the most. Collectively they are all on the same page. Their defence shows that and that’s why they are favourites for this match.

This game has all the ingredients of a special end to the TRL season. So, sit back and enjoy the game.

Here's what you need to know.
