Meet Maroons at McDonald's on McHappy Day

Queenslanders Corey Oates, Michael Morgan and Ben Hannant will head to their local McDonald's restaurants on Saturday, November 19, for McHappy Day.

The aim of the day is to raise as much money as possible for Ronald McDonald House Charities, helping seriously ill or injured children and their families stay together and close to care while undergoing treatment in hospital.

Queensland Maroons legends Sam Thaiday and Darius Boyd visited Ronald McDonald House at South Bank ahead of McHappy Day to put smiles on the faces of children and their families.

Thaiday said McHappy Day was such an important day for families going through hard times, adding the visit was a humbling experience.

"Met some really, really nice families who are going through some hard times... listening to their stories humbles you and makes you grateful for what you have," Thaiday said.

"A lot of these people travel from rural communities so they're a long way from home. To have a place like this that they can call home, so close to the hospital, helps them out so much."
