The stage has been set for a Round 5 top-of-the-table clash between the Burleigh Bears and Souths Logan Magpies after both teams extended their undefeated run in the BMD Premiership's XXXX Rivalry Round.
The Bears and Magpies have both notched up four from four to start season 2023, with Burleigh overcoming a fierce opponent in Tweed Seagulls in Round 4.
While the Bears certainly looked in control for the majority of the match, a gutsy Seagulls outfit refused to go down easily, scoring two late tries.
Burleigh coach Scott Cooke said his side knew if they were to walk away from Piggabeen with the two points, they were going to have to fight hard.

"It’s always a tough game against Tweed and we expected that," he said.
"It was never going to be given to us easy. There’s still lots of improvement left in us. We’re slowly coming together but we’re not as consistent as we’d like to be."
Cooke was particularly proud of the efforts of his senior players, including skipper Zahara Temara, halfback Ash Quinlan, and forwards Sophie Holyman and Chelsea Lenarduzzi.
Burleigh, who have a young squad this season, were not tipped to be favourites for this season but have made quite the statement to start the year.
Lenarduzzi said they knew people had their doubts about Burleigh, but she was proud of the way the squad had delivered, particularly their younger players.
"We haven’t been perfect but the vibes are really good at the Bears right now," she said.
"Everyone is loving it and we’re improving every week. Everyone is building, the team is building, and we’re coming together really well.
"We’ve lost a lot of experience leading into this season and there was a bit of a question mark. But we have such a young team and they’re all just keen to learn.
"There are girls in our team that will get signed to an NRLW club. They train hard, they want to learn and they have such a good attitude.
"In a way, it’s good to refresh the faces in the team. There’s only a third over 25, if that. Hopefully we keep this group together for a while and it’s the next dynasty like we had in the past."
Souths Logan also walked away triumphant on Saturday night, beating Norths Devils 22-12 at Logan Metro Football Fields.
The 10-point victory was enough to keep them as the competition leaders, but after the Easter weekend off, the Magpies will come up against Burleigh at Davies Park.

Lenarduzzi said it could be the perfect way to reignite an old rivalry that exists between the two clubs and their women's teams.
"Souths and Burleigh have always had a big rivalry and it’s probably gone away over the last couple of years but it’s good to see those two enemies back on top and ready to rip into each other," she said ahead of Round 5.
"They have a really physical team and when you go to their home ground, you really feel it.
"Destiny (Brill) is playing really well, Britto’s (Breayley-Nati) been good. It will be a slugfest.
"That’s what the Bears and Magpies is – it’s just pain. We’ll be ready to go though."
