Squad list announced for positional skills days

Queensland Rugby League is pleased to announce the players who have been selected to take part in Under 17 positional skills days this month.

Players will get the opportunity to train in game simulation, with Former Origin Greats working alongside the next generation of Queensland talent.

FOGS lending their expertise include Gavin Cooper, Darius Boyd, Michael Morgan, Brent Tate, Andrew McCullough, Matt Gillett, Matt Ballin, David Stagg, Antonio Kaufusi and Casey McGuire.

Experienced coach John Dixon will also be involved in the program led by QRL male pathways coach Nathan Cross.

“It’s an excellent opportunity for young players to tap into the minds of guys who have excelled at the highest level,” Cross said.

“The focus for these days will be to give the players an experience they may not get at club level, and to hear directly from the FOGS on what effort and skill areas they need to focus on to enhance performance relevant to the position they play.”

Approximately half of the session will be workshops and interactive discussions with the FOGS and the other half will be on-field component directly relating to the position they play.

The squads were selected following extensive consultation with coaches from statewide competition clubs, with a focus on including players who have performed well and shown ability, effort and core values throughout the season that align with the Maroon DNA.

Four regions will host the skill days with each player allocated to one of four squads.

The locations are Townsville (April 11), Bundaberg (April 13), Ipswich (April 17) and Redcliffe (April 18).
