The Wynnum Manly Seagulls and Redcliffe Dolphins put on a performance worthy of two top five teams on Sunday.

Going into the clash at BMD Kougari Oval, Redcliffe were sitting in top spot on the Hastings Deering Colts ladder while Wynnum Manly were in fifth.

And in a seesawing affair that saw the momentum swing both ways multiple times, it was the Seagulls that claimed the upset victory, thanks to the boot of five-eighth Jordan Davies.

The Seagulls came bursting out of the blocks, scoring five tries in the opening stanza to Redcliffe's one, taking a 28-6 lead into halftime.

But the Dolphins fought back bravely, nabbing four tries in the opening 12 minutes of the second half.

It was hooker Tyree Bowman who then locked in the win for the home team, scoring in the 64th minute, with Davies converting.

Corey Thomas responded for the Dolphins four minutes later, but it wasn't enough to get his side over the line.

Davies kicked five conversions to Redcliffe's three, making all the difference after both sides scored six tries apiece.

The 34-30 win saw Wynnum Manly maintain fifth place, but they are now on the same points as the second-placed Dolphins.
