Central Highlands cheers volunteers on grand final day

The Central Highlands Junior Rugby League grand finals were held on Sunday in Springsure.

A big thank you goes to Springsure Juniors Rugby League Club for hosting the day. Springsure presented the fields really well and the canteen was awesome as usual - a huge credit to Brendan King and his committee.

It was a great day and lots of great football played.

The host club had a win of their own in the under 13s (pictured above), defeating Emerald Brothers 28-20. Dominic Ganzer was awarded player of the match for the little Mountain Men.

The under 15s grand final was a successful one for Emerald Brothers, beating Emerald Tigers Black 42-38 in an entertaining game. Sione Fakatava was awarded player of the match.

In the under 17s, Blackwater Crushers 32 defeated Central West 18 thanks largely to Cooper Window, who was player of the match.

The under 9 and under 10 teams had a cluster day, with teams participating from Springsure, Emerald Brothers, Emerald Tigers, Blackwater, Peak Downs and Dysart.

Season awards were handed out at the completion of the day, while this year CHJRL introduced awards to recognise the great volunteers of our region who go above and beyond. There were 10 categories awarded.
