Queensland Under 19 Emerging Origin squad named

Queensland’s next generation of State of Origin representatives will assemble in Brisbane this Sunday.

The 30-man squad includes a strong contingent of players involved with Hostplus Cup clubs this year, along with a number of young Queensland stars contracted to interstate National Rugby League clubs.

Queensland Under 19 head coach Matt Ballin will set the tone for the year ahead by taking squad members through expectations and roles, while also sharing insight into the ‘Maroon DNA’.

Ballin will be supported by Former Origin Greats (FOGS) Darius Boyd, Matt Gillett and Antonio Kaufusi.

The camp is an important part of the Queensland team’s preparations leading into the June 20 clash against New South Wales at Sydney’s Leichhardt Oval.

The 2024 Emerging Origin squad includes seven players who were part of last year’s match against the young Blues.

They are Mutua Brown, Israel Leota, Stanley Huen, Michael Waqa, Jamal Shibasaki, Mason Kira and Kai Simon.
