Further postponements confirmed ahead of Cyclone Alfred

Queensland Rugby League (QRL) can today confirm the postponement of all Hostplus Cup Round 1 matches.

The QRL made every attempt to get teams on the field, while at all times assessing the safety of participants and the wellbeing of their families in line with government advice.

However, due to the delayed arrival of Cyclone Alfred, and not being able to assess its impact prior to matches, all South East Queensland games, including Hervey Bay junior representative fixtures, have been postponed.

With airport closures taking effect, Brisbane Tigers and PNG Hunters can no longer transit through Brisbane, meaning their respective Hostplus Cup games in Cairns and Mackay have been postponed as well.

The only statewide competition fixtures that will proceed as scheduled are the junior representative matches in Cairns and Mackay.

The postponed Hostplus games are:

  • North Ipswich Reserve: Ipswich Jets v Townsville Blackhawks (Saturday, May 10, 3pm)
  • BB Print Stadium: Mackay Cutters v PNG Hunters (Saturday, April 19, 3pm)
UAA Park: Burleigh Bears v Central Queensland Capras (Saturday, August 2, 3pm)
  • Barlow Park: Northern Pride v Brisbane Tigers (Saturday, May 10, time 5:30pm)
  • Bishop Park: Norths Devils v Redcliffe Dolphins (Saturday, April 19, 4pm)
  • Davies Park: Souths Logan Magpies v Western Clydesdales (Sunday, May 11, 2pm)
  • Piggabeen Sports Complex: Tweed Seagulls v Wynnum Manly Seagulls, (Saturday, April 19, 2pm)
