QRL Central has a new chairperson following the appointment of long-serving administrator Richard Duff.
A highly-respected rugby league identity in Central Queensland, Duff has more than five decades of experience as a player, coach and administrator.
With a strong understanding of the game’s governance models and an ongoing connection to Queensland representative pathways, Duff is viewed as a valuable addition to the QRL Board of Directors.
Duff is the current manager of the Queensland Under 19 State of Origin men’s team, a role he has carried for several years.
He has held numerous other representative and club positions over the years, including management and coaching roles with the Queensland Academy of Sport, Central Queensland Capras and Central Crows.
QRL chairperson Brian Canavan said Duff’s appointment would help strengthen rugby league across Central Queensland.
“Richard is as passionate as they come about rugby league, as those who were involved in the 47th Battalion in Bundaberg over the weekend can attest,” Canavan said.
“With that passion comes strong leadership, and most importantly a deep understanding of community rugby league and high performance structures.
We’re delighted to have a person of Richard’s calibre serving on our board for the remainder of 2025 and beyond.
