Next in Line: Junior footy stars given chance to join the Maroons inner sanctum

As the Maroons prepare for Game III in Sydney, the Queensland Rugby League is turning the focus to where every Origin journey begins, junior footy.

Launching today! The Next in Line campaign celebrates the thousands of junior rugby league players across Queensland who are the foundation of the game. These young athletes represent the future, and now, one of them will have the chance to experience the Maroons camp from the inside.

As part of the campaign, one lucky junior and a friend will win the opportunity to attend Captain’s Run in Sydney prior to Game III. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience designed to show the real, tangible pathway from grassroots to greatness.

“This is about recognising the heartbeat of rugby league in Queensland,” said QRL CEO Ben Ikin.

Every player wearing a Maroons jersey today started out at a local club. This campaign is a reminder that the pathway is real, and it’s there for any kid who loves the game.

To enter, junior players simply need to be registered and signed up as QLDER Youth Members. The competition not only rewards participation but also highlights the vital connection between junior rugby league and Queensland’s elite pathways.

“Grassroots players are the future of our game, and we’re proud to provide opportunities like this that connect them to the top level,” Ikin said.

Entries open today via the Maroons Shop. Entrants must already be a registered player with MySideline, aged 10-16yrs.
