The Sunshine Coast Falcons and Western Clydesdales were both able to bounce back from Round 1 losses the weekend prior, however, this newfound momentum will come to a swift end for one of the two sides this Sunday.
The most intriguing match up of this bout can be found smack bang in the middle, as Clydesdales powerhouse Zoe Cook faces off against the Falcons’ captain, Annette Brander.
Cook has served as the heartbeat of a Clydesdales side who are coming off an impressive victory against the Northern Pride.
So far in two matches Cook has put up monumental stats, including three tries, 304 run metres and 35 tackles.
The mantle will likely rest with Brander to contain the powerful Clydesdale forward, as the Falcons will look to their outside backs to cause mayhem for their opposition.
She may not be scoring tries just yet, but Falcons’ centre Demi Salton has been proving as reliable as they come with ball in hand, notching back-to-back weeks with over 125 metres ran against the Wynnum Manly Seagulls and Norths Devils.
For try scoring touch, the Falcons have so far leant on wingers Sophie Zipf and Larissa Crummer, both of whom have two tries in two games.
The Clydesdales try scorers have remained in the forward pack so far this season, with prop Zoe Cook and edge back rower Reagan McMillan topping their try scoring tallies with 3 and 2 respectively.
With rain predicted over this weekend in the Sunshine Coast, a slow pitch may fall into the hands of the women from the west, as they look to dominate the middle in what promises to be a hotly contested bout.
