Round 7: Weekend Preview - BMD Premiership

The Tweed Seagulls will face an uphill battle this Sunday at Totally Workwear Stadium when they take on an undefeated Brisbane Tigers side on the hunt for their seventh straight victory.

The Tigers' historic start the season hasn’t been easy to maintain, with four of their six wins being by 10 points or less.

Resilience has been key to their success, overcoming deficits and securing last-minute victories against the Magpies and Bears, who are sitting 2nd and 4th on the ladder respectively.

With incumbent hooker Kelsey Parkin missing this clash with NRLW duties, the Tigers will debut the prodigious Enah Desic, who joins the interchange after captaining her Harvey Norman U17s side to a dominant Grand Final victory earlier in the year.

Desic is part of a group of Tigers young guns who have excelled in the BMD Premiership following successful junior pathway seasons.

Players such as Namoe Gesa, Evelyn Roberts, India Seeto, Kameryn Bray, Kayleen Takai, Lorren Leli, and Saupo-Mina Toeleiu have yet to reach their 21st birthday, though they have been integral contributors to a winning side, with Roberts and Gesa arguably being the best-performing players this season in their respective positions.

Seasoned players such as Narikah Orchard and Courtney Robinson have also been immense in 2025 – with their experience and knowledge being invaluable in such a young, talented outfit.

The Seagulls will be looking to play through the middle, leaning on Ruby Fifita and Mia Dendle to provide a solid platform for their outside backs.

Their attacking outlets lie in the centres, with Shanarlii Peckham and, especially, Raimee Wright possessing plenty of creativity and strike."
