Future Maroons sharpen skills at under 18 boys emerging camp

Queensland Rugby League has assembled 30 of the state’s most promising young talents for the annual under 18 Boys Emerging Origin Camp, a key initiative in developing Queensland's next generation of rugby league stars.

Designed to fast-track player development both on and off the field, the camp delivers elite-level education and insights under the guidance of former Origin greats and high-performance staff.

The young squad is exposed to a structured program aimed at building resilience, professionalism, and the skill set required to take the next step in their careers.

Among the experienced mentors are State of Origin greats Darius Boyd and David Stagg, who are delivering specialist sessions focusing on mental resilience, leadership, and what it takes to thrive in the professional rugby league environment.

The group also benefits from the presence of Keegan Hipgrave, who adds further depth with his first-hand experience and coaching insight.

Each player selected for the camp has shown strong potential in recent seasons and has been identified as someone who could make the leap to Queensland Under 19s, Hostplus Cup, and eventually higher honours.

The 30-man squad includes talent from across the state, reflecting the depth and diversity of Queensland’s junior rugby league system. The camp provides a crucial touchpoint for QRL’s pathways team to assess talent, deliver individualised feedback, and help shape the state's future Origin representatives.
