Two premiership favourites go head-to-head tonight at Bishop Park as the Norths Devils host the undefeated Brisbane Tigers.
The home side will be without their experienced captain, Grace Griffin, who is replaced by Roimata Amosa-Tiro, who has played six games at lock for the Devils this season.
The Devils return home following a disappointing trip north to Cairns where they fell 20-12 to the Northern Pride.
The Devils were unable to display their strike power last weekend, making only a single line break despite holding the bulk of possession throughout the match.
The Pride did a great job of containing the ever-dangerous Paris Pickering, keeping the fullback scoreless for the first time this season.
Conversely, the Tigers enter this match after their seventh straight victory, dominating the Tweed Seagulls 30-16.
It was the usual suspects shining for the Tigers, with Courtney Robinson, Evelyn Roberts and Aleksandra Tunufai all putting in standout performances.
Tunufai was especially damaging against the Seagulls, scoring twice and running for a game-high 160 metres in addition to making zero errors.
The debut of the highly touted Enah Desic didn’t disappoint, with the young Tiger leading her side in tackles completed as well as making no errors despite her 50 minutes at dummy-half.
The match-up between Pickering and Robinson will be one of great intrigue, with both fullbacks possessing pace to burn and immense strength in their carries.
In the forwards, the prodigious Fanua Rimoni will go head-to-head with Tigers’ young gun Porche John in the middle.
Both athletes have bright futures in the game, and will no doubt be excited to one-up each other in such an important game in both sides’ seasons.
