The Brisbane Tigers have extended their unbeaten run to nine straight matches, storming past the Western Clydesdales 48-18 in Toowoomba.
Evelyn Roberts was outstanding, scoring a hat-trick and slotting a conversion, while Porche John bagged a double. Playmaker Enah Desic added seven goals in a commanding display. Despite the scoreline, the Clydesdales showed heart with tries to Morgan Prentice, Therese Aiton and Kiara Taylor, but the Tigers again proved their class to remain competition leaders.
The Wynnum Manly Seagulls produced a much-needed home victory, outlasting Norths Devils 14-8 at BMD Kougari Oval.
Tries to Taleah Kapua, Indee Brown and Lilly Green gave the Seagulls the edge in a defensive arm wrestle, while the Devils were restricted to just two tries through Natahlia Moors and Courtney Tyrell. The result keeps Wynnum’s finals hopes alive.
Ipswich Jets delivered an attacking showcase at North Ipswich Reserve, defeating the Sunshine Coast Falcons 32-12.
Pearl Tuitama crossed twice and Tarleah Fisher-Pearson added another as the Jets ran in six tries. Goal-kicker Gemma Schnaubelt was clinical with four conversions. The Falcons responded through Makayla Henry and Jordan Jackson, but Ipswich’s speed and spread proved decisive.
Burleigh Bears found their groove with a 34-16 win over the Mackay Cutters at UAA Park.
Jaime Phillips and Bella Thompson both scored doubles, while Zali Bettridge added three goals in the polished performance. The Cutters showed flashes with tries to Haylee Hifo, Ebony Raftstrand-Smith and Shaylee Hazledine, but Burleigh’s strike power in the backs secured the points.
Souths Logan Magpies cemented their top-two standing with a 38-10 win over the CQ Capras at Davies Park.
Electric fullback Tori Groves-Little stole the show with a hat-trick, while Sienna Ibrahim and Amanii Misa also crossed in the six-try effort. For the Capras, Tylah Phillips was a lone standout, scoring both of her side’s tries. The Magpies now sit just two points behind the ladder-leading Tigers.
The Northern Pride kept their finals charge alive with a gritty 34-18 victory against Tweed Seagulls at Seagulls Sports Complex.
Seven different players crossed for the Pride, including Tiana Raftstrand-Smith and Nadia Windleborn, with Kimberley Hunt adding three goals. Tweed stayed competitive thanks to a Kaliyah Browning double, but the Pride’s consistency saw them through to a crucial win.
