Roberts and Pascoe earn major QRL awards

A talented grand final five-eighth and a dashing Ipswich hooker were among the big winners at the 2025 Queensland Rugby League Awards.

Brisbane Tigers star Evelyn Roberts, who will wear the No. 6 jersey in this Saturday’s BMD Premiership women’s grand final against the Burleigh Bears, was deservedly in the spotlight after snaring three major accolades.

Roberts was presented with the Steph Hancock Medal as the competition’s best and fairest player after leading the charge for the Tigers in their unbeaten march into the premiership decider.

Roberts was also named Rookie of the Year and featured in the BMD Premiership Team of the Year as the five-eighth.

Exciting Ipswich Jets dummy-half Oliver Pascoe was also at the forefront of tonight’s awards after being presented with the Petero Civoniceva Medal as the Hostplus Cup’s best and fairest player.

Pascoe received 21 points (judged by the referees on a 3-2-1 system) to edge out Papua New Guinea Hunters fullback Sanny Wabo and Souths Logan Magpies speedster Latrell Siegwalt (17 points each).

Pascoe was also named in the Hostplus Cup Team of the Year alongside two grand final bound Burleigh Bears players – Sam Coster (lock) and Guy Hamilton (halfback).

Burleigh will clash with the Norths Devils in Saturday’s Hostplus Cup grand final at Kayo Stadium.

Both teams attended the QRL Awards at Brisbane City Hall, where more than 300 guests celebrated the achievements of players, coaches, referees and volunteers across community rugby league, statewide competitions and elite representative programs.

For his efforts in steering the Tigers to 11-straight regular season wins, Rhett Tronc was named the Darryl Van de Velde BMD Premiership Coach of the Year.

In just his second season, Townsville’s Terry Campese was the Hostplus Cup Coach of the Year after taking the Blackhawks to third spot on the ladder with 14 regular season wins.

The representative awards toasted some incredible achievements from some of the game’s best players, including Tom Dearden and Cameron Munster.

Dearden received the Ron McAuliffe Medal as the Maroons’ best player for the second-straight year, while Queensland captain Munster was a popular recipient of the FOGS Peter Jackson Memorial Award following his Game Three heroics.

Julia Robinson was the recipient of the Annie Banks Medal following her consistent efforts across the three-match women’s Origin series with the Harvey Norman Queensland Maroons.

The Renae Kunst Medal – awarded to a player or staff member who most embodies the Maroons spirit – was presented to hard-working Maroons manager Tammy Quirke.
